Welcome!

I am Fan Wang, a statistician and educator based in Toronto. I am a Senior Biostatistician at Tigermed, supporting Vertex Pharmaceuticals with a focus on real-world evidence studies and clinical trials. I also teach and develop courses at the University of Toronto’s Data Sciences Institute.

I received my PhD in Statistical Sciences from the University of Toronto, supervised by Lisa Strug and Lei Sun. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Biostatistics at Columbia University, working with Iuliana Ionita-Laza. My research focuses on statistical genetics, quantile regression, high-dimensional inference, and the integration of genomic data.

I am passionate about helping students build confidence in statistics, develop their research ideas, and strengthen their data analysis and programming skills.

I enjoy making challenging concepts accessible through clear explanations, real data, and hands-on examples. Students are welcome to connect with me about coursework, research, and learning in statistics and data science.

Teaching

My teaching combines statistical foundations with practical computing and applications in data science and genomics.
